Membership
Unite with Church of the Open Arms UCC
Membership is not required to fully participate in activities at Church
of the Open Arms. Your presence makes you a vital part of our
faith community.
If you wish to formalize your belonging to this family of faith, you
may do so through membership. Church of the Open
Arms has
two types of membership.
AFFILIATE MEMBER:
Affiliate members are those who wish to maintain their current church
membership and still unite in a formal way with this community of faith.
MEMBER:
Members are those who wish to unite with this faith community
alone. Members may join by transfer from their current
church, or
those who have never been a member of a church may join by a profession
of faith.
Covenant of Membership
THOSE JOINING PROMISE:
As a member of Church of the Open Arms, I promise to participate in
worship regularly; to contribute both financially and with my prayers,
time and talents to the mission of the church; and to seek justice,
peace, and compassion of all persons through words, thoughts, and
actions. I promise to strive to grow in discipleship in the
Way
of Jesus, by seeking wisdom through scripture and experience, by
building up the community, and by living the best life that I can live.
THE CONGREGATION PROMISES:
We, the body of Christ, in the congregation of Church of the Open Arms
promise to love and support you unconditionally. We give thanks for the
journey that brought us together here and now. We celebrate your life,
your uniqueness, and our future together. We pledge to embrace you as
fully as we serve in ministry to the world, expressing the love of
Jesus. Thanks be to God for your decision and everything about you.
