Dr. Rev. Kathy McCallie
Dr. Rev. Kathy McCallie currently serves as pastor of Church of the
Open
Arms UCC, a congregation of The United Church of Christ in Oklahoma
City. Kathy was ordained in 1986 and has served many congregations
as pastor. In addition to her Masters
of Divinity from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, Kathy
earned a Masters Degree in Philosophy and taught Philosophy as a
Graduate Assistant at Oklahoma State University. She completed her
PhD Oklahoma University in Political Science in 2006, and taught
as a graduate
assistant in that department in 1998-99. Her special interest is in
international relations and issues of economic justice.Kathy has been an activist for human rights and justice issues for many years. She has served as the chairperson of the Oklahoma Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty, and the Clergy Coalition for Human Rights. Kathy's favorite volunteer work has been with the Peace House and RAIN, Regional AIDS Interfaith Network. She was a member of the first RAIN team in Oklahoma. She has led both medical and construction mission teams to Central America each of the past seven years, working particularly in Nicaragua.
Kathy is a proud mother of three children and an avid gardener. She enjoys reading feminist novels and listening to Mozart.
